Big changes await all iPhone fans next year. Apple will remove the Plus model from the menu and a new specification will arrive, which will be nicknamed Air and whose domain will be a thin chassis. The latest information hints at just how thin the phone could get, and it looks like records will be rewritten in that direction.
A thin iPhone 17 is more or less a sure thing
Speculation about a thin iPhone began almost immediately after the premiere of the current iPhone 16 and also after the introduction of the new iPad Pro, which became the thinnest Apple product ever to see the light of day. The Californian giant reportedly wants to focus more on the thinness of its electronics, and the upcoming iPhone 17 Air (Slim) could raise the bar to a new level in this regard.
The server came with the latest information about this phone 9to5mac and he focused, of course, on the most important thing, which is the thickness of the chassis. It should be between 5 and 6 millimeters, making the iPhone 17 Air the thinnest iPhone ever. That’s a title currently held by the decade-old iPhone 6 with a 6.9mm-thick chassis.

One of the thinnest phones ever
In addition to making the iPhone 17 Air with a chassis 5 to 6 mm thick, the thinnest iPhone of all time, it would also be among the thinnest phones in general. This primacy is held by the Vivo X5 Max model, which is one of the few phones to fall below the 5 mm threshold (at 4.75 mm) in this aspect. Just for comparison, the current iPhone 16 Pro Max has an 8.3mm thick chassis.
As for other specifications, this expected novelty should be built around a 6.6-inch display, so it will be smaller than the current iPhone 16 Plus and the top model Pro Max. The construction will probably rely on aluminum, we will see the Apple A19 chipset and a camera with a resolution of 48 Mpx. Apple Intelligence will not be missing either.
When will the iPhone 17 Air (Slim) arrive?
The thinnest iPhone of all time will premiere at the same time as the other members of the iPhone 17 series, i.e. in the autumn of next year. The big unknown then remains the price, which should probably be set even above the top model Pro Max. We will see how the situation around this interesting venture will develop.
