The Israeli army found the bodies of two hostages in the Gaza Strip, whose deaths were confirmed by the authorities in the past months. This was announced on Wednesday by kibbutz Nir Oz and Nir Yitzchak, TASR writes, according to a report by the AFP agency.
“We have been informed that the body of the late Maja Goren was found during a military rescue operation,” Kibbutz Nir Oz, where the deceased hostage lived, said in a statement. He added that her family had been informed of the discovery.
The death of Goren, who was kidnapped by Hamas militants during an attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, was confirmed by the Israeli military last December.
Kibbutz Nir Yitzchak subsequently reported that the Israeli army also found the body of Oren Goldin in the Gaza Strip, who was a member of the kibbutz’s rescue team and was killed in a Hamas attack.
The attack of the Hamas movement on the south of Israel last October claimed 1,195 lives. The militants captured 250 hostages during the attack and took them to the Gaza Strip. More than 39,000 people have been killed so far in the retaliatory offensive of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, according to data from the Ministry of Health there.
