The January edition of the pop culture magazine Days and Nights has appeared

2025 is the year in which the leisure platform Days and Nights celebrates 25 years since its first appearance.

In EDITORIAL from the opening of the magazine in January, the publisher Ioan Big reminds us that this year Zile si Nopți celebrates a quarter of a century of pop culture in Romania:

“In the year 2000 I appeared with Days and Nightsand since then, without interruption, we continue to encourage the discovery of new things through cultural, artistic and lifestyle experiments, subsumed Pop culture.

In the year of hits Old Customs, Stop pulling us to the rightand The Vine, The bass and the big drumthe year they launched Smiley cu Simple and Delia cu N&Dand the young (at that time) filmmakers Cristi Mungiu, Tudor Giurgiu, Catalin Mitulescu or Adrian Sitaru had started to attract attention with their short films, I went on the road with Days and Nights in the idea of constituting ourselves as guides through the experiential urban environment.

Days and Nights will continue in 2025 to represent a platform for exhibiting the newest and most varied approaches in the cultural space of interest to the public, beyond any border drawn by prejudices, geographical location, social context or communication medium.”

Here are some recommendations from January’s magazine.

The Pop Up Stories we enter the universe of fashion and cinematography and present to you costume designers who have marked the history of film!

Contributing massively to a film’s success and impact, costume art is an essential visual tool for defining stories and characters’ identities. Without requiring words, the pieces of clothing convey information about the past and the social, emotional or psychological status of the heroes, becoming, in the worldbuilding process, lifestyle elements that induce a sense of intimacy and a deep connection between the protagonists and their environment. Thus, the works of costume designers, who often collaborate with large fashion houses and designers, encourage, in the current Popular Culture context, even mimicry, building trends and cultural symbols.

The FILM chapter here’s January’s premieres, as well as some of the movies that will make waves in 2025.

Ioan Big spoke with BOGDAN NAUMOVICI, the subject of the discussion being the publicist’s debut as a director of a feature film.

Two villages receive from the Government only half of the annual budget they need, which is why they bet everything on a football match: whoever wins gets all the money and does their job, so, naturally, everyone will do everything Romanian possible to win. This is the subject of the comedy Șăndări (premiere: January 28), representing the debut feature film of BOGDAN NAUMOVICI, the best-known publicist from us, who made the transition to the cinema through his short film Zimnicea (2019), selected or nominated in numerous festivals international film.

ANDREI ŞERBAN returned in December to the stage of the Il Caragiale National Theater in Bucharest, after an absence of 32 years, with the exceptional show Mary Stuart, a modern adaptation signed by the British Robert Icke after the classic play by Friedrich Schiller.

Brilliantly conceived by ANDREI ŞERBAN, the show proves to be of impressive relevance, whether we refer to the socio-political cataclysms produced in our country lately, or to themes that give thought beyond a specific space, such as the making of martyrs , the status of migrants or the questionable value of majority support.
