The Kawasaki Ninja 1100 SX SE is coming soon

Kawasaki looks set to announce a larger displacement variant of its Ninja 1000 SX sports tourer this winter, as documents from Austria reveal that a new 1,100cc version is on the way.

The new model is thought to be ready for 2025, which should lead to additional details about the model to be announced this winter. This again means that we could see it at the EICMA fair this fall.

The new machine, listed in the documents as the Ninja 1100 SX SE, is thought to be largely the same as the existing Ninja SX, with changes for the next model year focused entirely on the powertrain. The German magazine Motorrad had access to the documents and even managed to capture some alleged spy shots of the new machine. Stylistically speaking, there are no noteworthy changes.

More interesting than the style is how Motorrad calculated how Kawasaki made changes to the regular four-cylinder unit. Instead of increasing the unit’s stroke, which can be complicated and expensive, Motorrad reports that the bike’s bore could be increased by 1.7mm, bringing the total displacement to 1,099cc – the same as listed in the documents.

Motorrad also took pains to calculate the potential power output of the upcoming machine, and if their numbers are correct, it could produce more than 150 hp – which is more than the current motorcycle’s 142 hp. It’s also possible that the SE part of the new bike’s name could indicate the inclusion of some semi-active suspension, as we’ve seen on the Versys 1000 SE and H2 SX SE, both of which get KECS (Kawasaki Electronically Controlled Suspension). For further information on the matter, we’ll have to wait for the bike’s official announcement, which shouldn’t be too far off.
