The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the future of relations with the United States “very important” for Russia.

At the same time, according to him, Russian-American relations are now “going through the worst period in history.”

The Kremlin spokesman also commented on the decision of the current head of the White House, Joe Biden, to withdraw from the presidential race at the briefing. Peskov noted that the course of the election campaign in the US “cannot be a priority topic on our agenda.”

The Kremlin spokesman added that Moscow is monitoring developments both in the US and in all major countries of the world and is not surprised by Biden’s refusal to participate in the elections. “To be honest, the last few years of what has been happening in the US have taught us not to be surprised by anything. Therefore, we were not very surprised,” Peskov quotes TASS.

Let us recall that the day before, Biden announced that he was withdrawing from the fight for re-election as US President and proposed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for the post of head of state.
