The last Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing built will be up for grabs at an exclusive RM Sotheby’s auction in Las Vegas later this month.
More precisely, on November 22, the last of the 1,400 examples made between 1954 and 1957 will be auctioned. This can be seen by the chassis number (7500079) and the production date (May 15, 1957), according to the auction house.
The car in question is Fire Engine Red, with Créme leather interior, which was shipped to the USA on September 27, 1957.
So far, it has had only four owners, and the current one has kept it for more than 25 years, notes RM Sotheby’s.
RM Sotheby’s expects the last Gullwing to sell for between $2.5 million and $3.5 million, which is expected for a car that is not one of those rare aluminum-bodied Gullwings.
