Euro NCAP has published the latest results from the safety tests carried out. Among the models tested is the Ford Tourneo Courier, which achieved three stars.
Euro NCAP test results include a number of five-star ratings, including the new Cupra Tavascan electric SUV or the new generation of the MG HS SUV. Among the tests carried out is the Ford Tourneo Courier, factory model in the Otosan factory in Craiova.
Thus, the new models that were tested for the first time by Euro NCAP are the Cupra Tavascan and the MG HS, both achieving the maximum five-star rating. Cars derived from existing models, such as Ford Capri and Renault, also participated in this round of tests. All these models were decorated with the maximum rating, while the new Mitsubishi ASX, which is derived from the Renault Captur, achieved four stars in safety tests Euro NCAP.
How do Euro NCAP tests work?
Euro NCAP looks at several aspects of a car when carrying out safety tests. The cars receive qualifications for the protection of pedestrians, the occupants of the front seats, but also for the protection of the occupants of the second row of seats. The car’s assistance systems are also tested, with these having a significant role in achieving a top rating.
That is precisely why we also see this result for the Ford Tourneo Courier which seems modest at first glance. However, the minivan scored 81% for pedestrian protection, 62% for adult protection, 80% for child protection, but assistance systems were rated just 54%. By comparison, the new Ford Capri achieved a score of 72% for the same category.
It’s a similar story to what we can see with Dacia models. Even if they offer a good level of occupant protection, safety systems often penalize the final result of safety tests.
