The latest Galaxy S25 Ultra leaks are a little disappointing

We’re witnessing yet another example of the hardware compromises that come with thinner phones, and this time we’re talking about Samsung, which appears to be equipping the Galaxy S25 Ultra with the same battery capacity and charging speeds that have been used in its Ultra models for some time.

Some rumors suggested that Samsung was equipping the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a bigger battery, but @Ice Universe now claims it will still come with the same 5,000mAh battery that’s been in Samsung’s high-end phones since the Galaxy S20 Ultra era.

Not only that, but in today’s age of 100W+ chargers, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will keep the small maximum charging speed of 45 W.

Although somewhat disappointing, this rumor makes sense as Ice also claimed that Samsung will make the Galaxy S25 Ultra thinner. At the rumored thickness of 8.4mm, there just might not be enough room for a bigger battery if Samsung wanted to keep its excellent camera kit and other internals intact.

On the other hand, Samsung might get a boost from Oppo again next year in this regard as well. The upcoming Find X8 Ultra is said to be slimmer, but will pack a larger battery than the 5,000mAh unit in Oppo’s current X7 Ultra flagship.

Given the record-breaking camera of Oppo Find flagships that now come with not one but two periscope optical zoom lenses, the Find X8 Ultra may still be thicker than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Not bad considering all the photography media, especially if it now comes with a bigger battery too.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh battery may return even better battery life, however, as it is expected to be equipped with the more frugal chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, as well as a newer generation OLED screen that will also reduce power consumption.
