The latest information provided by AEP regarding the presidential elections

  • On Saturday evening, the Permanent Electoral Authority provided the latest information related to the presidential elections in Romania.
  • Almost 19,000 sections will be opened on Sunday morning in the country.
  • Voting will also continue at the sections abroad.

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) informs that the polling stations in the country will be opened on Sunday, starting at 7:00 a.m., in order to hold the elections for the President of Romania. At the same time, AEP “reminds electoral competitors that they must comply with the legal provisions in force and not continue electoral propaganda, urging them, at the same time, to contribute to the conduct of voting day in the best conditions, so that the entire electoral process meets expectations citizens’ democratic rights”.



During the presidential elections on November 24, 18,968 polling stations will be organized in Romania, and 950 polling stations abroad. In the country, voting at the 18,968 polling stations takes place on Sunday, between 07:00 and 21:00 (with the possibility of extension until 23:59 for citizens who, at 21:00, are in the headquarters of the voting, as well as for those queuing outside the polling station to enter the polling place).

Overseas voting began on Friday and took place between 12:00 and 21:00, while on Saturday, voting began at 07:00 and ended at 21:00. On Sunday, polling stations abroad are open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. And abroad, there is the possibility of extending the polling station schedule until 11:59 p.m. for citizens who, at 9:00 p.m., are in the polling station headquarters, as well as for those who are in line outside the polling station headquarters to enter in the polling place.

The data regarding voting attendance can be viewed in real time, by displaying on the website of the Permanent Electoral Authority. The results entered in the minutes drawn up by the electoral offices of the polling stations will be available on the same page, immediately after their conclusion and digital transmission, stated AEP.
