The legendary Casio introduced a smart ring with a built-in watch

Cult 78-year-old brand, which released the first digital watch back in 1974, decided to celebrate its half-century anniversary by releasing an unusual version of its most famous design. Casio Ring Watch CRW-001-1JR is exactly what the name suggests – a ring and a watch in one.

It’s a purely design thing and don’t expect any smart watch features or anything smart ring. It won’t be a direct competitor to the Oura Ring or the Samsung Galaxy Ring. Casio simply shrunk its iconic watch with a monochrome LCD display to 25.2 x 19.5 x 6.2 mm and fitted it into a ring of stainless steel. This is a reduction to a tenth compared to the original watch.

Casio also preserved all of them three mechanical buttons and the 7-segment display is placed under inorganic glass. The watch or the ring display the hours, minutes, seconds, but also the date or stopwatch. There is even an alarm, but without sound signaling. A flashing light serves as a warning. Do not wait for any other notifications. But it is a mini watch weighing 16 grams with full waterproofness and a lifespan of around two years. The battery is replaceable.

Only one size

The ring is only available in one U size, which is specifically an inner diameter of 20 mm, or a finger circumference of 62.8 mm. For those interested with smaller fingers, they are included in the package two spacers, which reduce the diameter to 19 and 16 mm. Anyone with a finger thicker than 20 mm is out of luck and has to watch the time on an ordinary wristwatch.
