The cause of the fire is explained differently by different agencies: according to the official statement of the Ministry of Emergency Situations the fire started on the roof of an empty building during welding work.
At the same time, the company’s press service claimed, the fire started during the demolition of older storage facilities.
Uraltranszmash (or more precisely Uralsky Zavod Transportnoho Masinostrojenija, or Urali Szálltógépgyártó Üzem) is one of the oldest companies in the Urals, its history began in 1817. 1In 847, it was transformed into a machine factory, producing locomotives, steam engines, and boilers.
It was nationalized in 1917, began producing military equipment in 1941after the necessary (and escaped from Nazi Germany) production lines arrived from Moscow and Stalingrad. By the end of the war, he assembled and sent more than a thousand T-60 light tanks to the front.
After the war, the main profile of the plant remained the production of military equipment, the older and current self-propelled howitzers of the Russian army are also produced here –
today it mainly produces 2Sz19 Mszta-Sz and 2Sz35 Koalícija-SzVs, the latter a self-propelled gun commissioned in 2015.
