The licenses of 9 hospitals where the ‘Newborn Gang’ worked were revoked

An investigation continues into the ‘newborn gang’, which sent babies to the intensive care units of private hospitals with its 112 staff and left them to die there in order to get money from SSI. While 22 members of the gang, which caused the death of 12 babies, have been arrested so far, the hospitals where the gang works have also been put under the spotlight.

License canceled

In this context, the license of Private Reyap Hospital in Tekirdağ’s Çorlu district, which was included in the indictment, was cancelled. The decision of the Ministry of Health regarding the license cancellation was notified to the hospital management by the Provincial Health Directorate teams.

Patients receiving treatment at the hospital were transferred to other hospitals.

The activities of two hospitals were suspended

In the indictment against the “newborn gang” prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which included 47 suspects, 22 of whom were detained, the activities of Bağcılar Private Şafak Hospital and Medilife Health Services Hospital in Istanbul, which were among the 19 hospitals and healthcare companies listed as “materially responsible”, were also suspended.

Thus, the number of private hospitals whose licenses were canceled increased to 9.
