83 candidates for the WWCOTY prize
What is it about? In fact, this award simply rewards the best car launched on the market in the months preceding the election. But the WWCOTY stands out for its unique jury: it is made up of 81 automotive journalists, all women, coming from 55 countries, covering several continents, from Europe to Asia passing through America. This award represents an inclusive and international vision of the automotive sector, driven by female expertise. The winning model is selected in several stages, and the prize highlights values of performance, safety, ecological footprint and design which are aimed at all motorists, regardless of gender. In 2024, the Kia EV9, a 100% electric SUV, won the trophy, illustrating the growing trend towards more environmentally friendly vehicles. Like last year, for the 2025 edition, the selection process will be carried out under the leadership of a committee responsible for the smooth running of the election.
Several criteria
The latter is made up of five experienced judges, namely Alicia Ryzewski (Argentina), Isadora Carvalho (Brazil), Monica Secondino (Italy), Tanya Gazdic (USA) and Tina Vujanović (Serbia). Their role is to guarantee that each stage of the evaluation takes place under the best conditions and according to rigorous criteria. The selection process is broken down into several roundswhere each step reduces the number of contenders for the title. The winners of each category, such as those for best SUV, best city car or best sedan, will be revealed on January 8, 2025. Then, on March 6, two days before International Women’s Day, the ” supreme winner”, the one who was able to convince the jury with her exceptional performances and qualities. The jury members’ evaluation criteria go well beyond the appearance of the vehicle. The judges analyze multiple aspects, such as driving sensations, ecological footprint, value for moneydesign innovation, as well as the overall quality of the car. However, it is essential to remember that WWCOTY is not intended to elect a car “for women”. This involves promoting the opinions of women experts, who express their opinions on the models that they consider to be the most efficient and innovative.
