“Do you have to take out loans to cover everyday expenses?” – 589 people took part in this survey on the Gorod.lv portal.
The reason for the survey was published in the Latvian media the story of a female librarian forced to take out loans to buy clothes and shoes. When people take out loans to cover basic needs, it indicates that their income is not enough to live even modestly.
Among the survey participants, the largest group (71%) were those who had never used loans for these purposes. Another 11% indicated that they have recently managed without loans for everyday expenses.
The answer “Rarely, only in exceptional cases” received 6% of votes. 4% of respondents said: “Sometimes I take out a loan if there is not enough for necessary expenses.” And 5% of surveyed readers admitted that they take out such loans regularly.
Daily basic expenses typically include: rent, food, clothing and shoes, medical care and medications, transportation, and personal care products.
