The man who boarded the “wrong plane” was arrested

A flight has been delayed at Manchester Airport after a man boarded the plane “incorrectly”, EasyJet said.

The BBC reported that a passenger at the airport was due to fly on another EasyJet flight but mistakenly boarded the flight to Milan on Friday evening.

All passengers had to get off the plane as additional security checks were carried out in accordance with standard procedure.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a man “boarded a flight without the correct documents”.

Nothing suspicious was found on board and there was no suggestion that it was a terrorist incident.

An EasyJet spokesman said the flight was “subject to additional security checks in accordance with procedures due to a passenger who incorrectly boarded the aircraft”.

“Safety and security is our highest priority and we will therefore now be working with our partner on the ground at Manchester Airport to understand how he was able to board the flight.”

On Saturday, a GMP spokesman said a man in his 20s had been arrested on suspicion of absconding with the intention of “carrying on an aircraft without consent and willfully or recklessly causing public nuisance”.

An EasyJet spokesman said the company was “unable to provide further details while the investigation is ongoing”.
