The market of new vehicles in Serbia recorded significant growth in the first six months of 2024 (supplemented)

Sales of new passenger cars (category M1) and light commercial vehicles (category N1) in Serbia in the first six months of this year increased by 21.18 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the data on the number of vehicles registered for the first time in Serbia, which the Serbian Association of Vehicle and Parts Importers received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia and Cube team partners, 18,256 vehicles (passenger and light commercial vehicles) which is 3,191 vehicles more than in 2023, when 15,065 vehicles were sold in the same period.

In this year, the most vehicles, looking by month, were sold in April 4,351, and the least in January 1995.

Counting total sales of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles Škoda is still the best-selling brand with 3,573 vehicles. In second place in terms of sales in the first six months of 2024 is Toyota with 1,667 vehicles sold. In third place is Volkswagen with 1,333 vehicles sold. They are followed by Citroen with 1,170 and Renault with 1,119.

Sales of passenger vehicles in the first six months of this year reached 15,158 units, which is compared to the first half of 2023, when 12,664 passenger vehicles were sold, 2,474 cars more, which represents a respectable growth of 19.69 percent.

The most cars were sold in April – 3,748, and the least in January – 1,519.

In this category as well, Škoda was the brand most purchased by our fellow citizens with 3,414 delivered and registered passenger vehicles. Toyota sold 1,525 cars, Volkswagen 943, Renault 907, Hyundai 844, KIA 822, followed by BMW with 798, Dacia with 786.

When looking only at light commercial vehicles (LCVs), the growth in sales in the first six months is very significant, as 3,098 of these vehicles were registered, which is 697 more than in the same period last year when 2,401 vehicles were sold, which is 29.03 percent.

The first brand according to the six-month review of LKV sales in this year it is Citroen with 797 vehicles. FIAT with 483 was sold in second position, Volkswagen 390 in third. Followed by Opel with 258, Renault with 212.

Sales of two-wheelers continue to grow at an incredible pace in Serbia. In the past six months, 3,222 motorcycles were sold, which is 52.12 percent more than last year, January-June, when 2,118 of these two-wheelers were sold.

OVERVIEW OF VEHICLE SALES BY TYPE OF FUEL

When it comes to the type of fuel that customers most often decided on of passenger vehicles, the first choice is convincingly gasoline engines with a percentage of 48.33 percent. The gasoline-electric hybrid drive is in second position with 21.50 percent (it is interesting that the number of sold vehicles with a diesel-electric hybrid drive is also increasing, so their share has reached 7.68 percent of the market). Diesels are in third place with 19.53 percent. Passenger vehicles with “factory gas”, built-in LPG drive and gasoline engine occupied 2.10 percent of the market.

Only 116 electric vehicles were sold.

When it comes to the power of light commercial vehicles, buyers in Serbia still mostly buy diesel-powered vehicles – 57.59 percent, but there is also a decrease compared to last year of 2.03 percent. LKV’s gasoline engine is in constant growth, the market share is 19.82 percent, and the annual growth is even 92.48 percent, which shows the trend of changing the perception of customers.

The gasoline-gas engine is still very popular with LKV customers and reaches 15.95 percent of the market. In the first six months, the gasoline-gas hybrid drive on the LKV market in Serbia occupies 3.10 percent.

102 light commercial vehicles powered by electricity were also sold.

Cube team’s data based on the number of registered vehicles also show that in addition to the mentioned number of light commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, and motorcycles, 210 buses, 2 light quadricycles, 915 mopeds, 2 cultivators, 2,957 trailers, 144 tractor trailers, 228 work trailers were sold. machines, 819 trucks, 999 heavy quadricycles, 118 heavy tricycles and 779 tractors.

A total of 28,651 vehicles were sold in the first six months of this year.

SUV VEHICLES TOP SELLER

SUVs (small, medium and large) are by far the most sold when comparing vehicles by class, in the first six months of 2024.

Medium SUVs occupy as much as 23.12 percent of the market, small SUVs 12.37 percent and large SUVs 6.63 percent. In total, SUVs occupied 42.12 percent of the market in Serbia in terms of sales in this period.

C class vehicles (C1+C2) have a market share of 19.53 percent, B class 9.75 percent, D class (D1+D2) 3.95 percent, A class 2.45 percent.

PREMIUM SEGMENT ON DLAN

The best-selling passenger cars in the so-called premium segment were BMW with 798 vehicles sold in this period, Mercedes-Benz 478, Audi sold 470, Volvo 192, Land Rover 96, Porsche 72, Maserati 15, Lexus 12, Jaguar 9, Lamborghini 5, Ferrari 3, Bentley 2, Rolls-Rolls 1 vehicle.
