The Mazda CX-80 was designated by Euro NCAP as the safest large SUV

Euro NCAP published the list of the safest cars in each class, and the Mazda CX-80 was named the safest large SUV tested in 2024.

The new Mazda CX-80 has been recognized as the best large SUV by Euro NCAP in the latest series of tests. In 2024, Euro NCAP tested a total of 44 vehicles, and the Mazda CX-80 came out on top in the large SUV category, narrowly beating the Audi Q6 e-tron.

The Mazda CX-80 achieved a score of 92% for the protection of adult passengers, achieving maximum scores in the side and rear impact tests. It also scored 88% for child safety, ensuring maximum protection for little ones. In terms of safety for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists, the vehicle scored 84% and the driver assistance technologies were rated 79%.

Safety performance is complemented by the Mazda CX-80’s comfort, convenience and versatility, aspects Mazda is counting on to attract more customers, especially now with models built on the new platform offering longitudinally-mounted engines and rear-wheel drive at the base.

The high-class model benefits from the Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable architecture, which improves dynamics, offering a front-engine configuration, rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. With three rows of seats, the Mazda CX-80 is the most spacious model in the company’s European range, offering comfort, versatility, advanced technology and performance comparable to rivals in the segment.

In Romania, prices for the new Mazda CX-80 start at 55,990 euros for the PHEV version and 61,990 euros for the 3.3-liter diesel. We tested both versions last fall, and the full test can be read below:
