The message that the police received among the mud and dirt from the DANA to warn them of the end of Muface

Between mud and water working on the cleaning tasks, the national police officers affected by DANA in Valencia received a cruel message by their insurers. “We cannot continue to offer the level of quality care that mutualists deserve.” The tragedy caused by this catastrophe is now joined by concern about the end of the agreements with Muface, which leaves thousands of agents throughout Spain helpless. “With everything we have on us, this happens to us,” says one of the officials who has to continue fighting due to the consequences of the storm.

Joanna is an agent of the National Police who lives in Xirivella (Valencia) with her husband and two minor children. This area has also been damaged by DANA and now they have to move through the mud and dirt that gathers in all parts of the home. This Tuesday they were going out into the street when at 18:11 hours They received a message that left them frozen.

“Dear mutual member. We are contacting you to inform you that DKV will not participate in the new agreements with mutual societies. DKV is a responsible company that has always put the interest of the insured at the center of its decisions. However, in the circumstances current, we consider that we cannot continue to offer the level of quality assistance that mutualists deserve. We want to inform you that you will be able to continue using health care with DKV until next January 31 and we will keep you informed of the next steps,” the email stated.

The message “was not necessary”

This email was also, in the same way, received by Corps agents deployed in Paiporta, Benetúser, La Torre, Sedaví, Massanassa or Alfafar. The communication arrived with the last hours of the sun after one of many days of intense work carrying out rescue work, cleaning, searching for missing people… Another difficult task to face while they are fighting the DANA tragedy.

“With everything we have on us and this is another worry after everything we are going through. With what is falling on us… you know that we are destroyed, our towns are destroyed… we have given everything as professionals and civilians,” laments the agent. And once again it has been demonstrated that the officials of the State Security Forces and Bodies are “hypernecessary” and that is why they have the Muface card so that their ailments can be resolved “quickly and they can continue working.”

It’s in the police’s “blood” to help and Joanna explains that it wasn’t “necessary to send that message.” “We are affected because we do not sleep, we do not eat… we are immersed in the catastrophe. I hope that now the State will get to work to solve this matter, but the companies could have waited a little,” he adds.

And currently the problem for agents in the area is locating boots or masks. “Our greatest concern is to ask for and obtain these needs,” highlights the official who has a message of gratitude to the thousands of volunteers.

Muface’s message

All this controversy occurs once it became known this Tuesday that Asisa, Adeslas and DKV have made the decision to leave Muface. In this way they give up the new Muface concert, after several months of reflection and doubts, which has kept all the officials who enjoy their assistance services in suspense. The reason for the “no” of these insurers to the next Muface concert has been the insufficient offer proposed by the Government. Therefore, as of January 31, 2025, Asisa, Adeslas and DKV will no longer provide service.

Muface has addressed all its mutual members and has sent a reassuring message through an official statement. This is the full statement from Muface:

Muface will continue to guarantee health care to all mutual members, both owners and beneficiaries. All Muface mutual members, both owners and beneficiaries, will continue to receive the same health care that they enjoy under current conditions. Today the deadline to submit offers for the Muface concert for the years 2025 and 2026 ended and the tender has been void.

Medical and healthcare care will be maintained under the current terms. After the end date of the concert, the continuity of health benefits will be guaranteed in accordance with the mechanisms provided for in the Public Sector Contracts Law.

On October 8, the Council of Ministers authorized the celebration of a new concert with the purpose of guaranteeing health care for the covered group, which exceeds 1.5 million people, including holders and beneficiaries. To this end, it agreed to increase the total amount of the contract to 1,337,059,970 euros in 2025 and 1,344,553,098 euros in 2026, a total increase in the new agreement of 303 million compared to 2024. With this provision, the 2025-2026 agreement offered a premium of 17.12%, the highest in history since comparable records exist.

Once the tender has been voided, Muface, as the contracting authority, will begin work for a new tender.

With this message, the 1.5 million Muface mutual members can breathe as they will receive the same health and social benefits as today. In this way, Muface guarantees the health care of its employees until a new tender is called. This happens thanks to the Contracting Law that guarantees the extension of services to mutual members when the approval of another tender is still pending.
