The Metallica Foundation donated $500,000 to help fight the fires in Los Angeles

Metallica through his humanitarian organization All Within My Hands Foundation is donating $500,000 to help fight the wildfires that have hit multiple areas of Los Angeles. The money is split evenly between the California Community Fire Recovery Fund ($250,000) and the Eaton Canyon Paso Gabral Community Fire Relief and Recovery Fund ($250,000).

The foundation’s statement underscores the gravity of the situation: “Fires in the Los Angeles area have been wreaking havoc since January 7 and show no signs of abating. During the past week, at least 24 people have died, almost 100,000 people are under evacuation orders, 40,000 hectares have been burned, and over 12,000 buildings have been destroyed. But the numbers cannot reflect the extent of the suffering because the disaster destroys families and people’s lives.”

California community (CCF) has a long history of helping those most in need through cooperation with local organizations and state agencies. Also, using data from CalFire and the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, it prioritizes the most vulnerable communities. The CCF fund was activated to contribute to immediate relief and long-term neighborhood recovery.

Paso Gabralo community (PCF) established its Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. As a smaller organization, PCF is strongly connected to the local community and aims to help reach those most in need. The fund will support immediate needs during rescue operations and long-term rebuilding efforts once the fires are out.

Foundation All Within My Hands it is known for its large donations to aid in natural disasters. Last October, the organization donated $100,000 for Hurricane Helena relief.

As part of fundraising, Metallica organizes a concert called “Helping Hands”, and all proceeds go to the foundation. At last month’s concert, the band headlined, further supporting the organization’s mission.

A page has been set up on the foundation’s website for additional donations to the California Community Foundation and/or the Paso Gabralo community to further help the areas affected by the Los Angeles fire.

Metallica will kick off the North American “M72 World Tour” in the spring, and one-off tickets will go on sale soon.
