The millionaire Sever Muresan died in a hospital in France, at the age of 75

Millionaire Sever Mureșan, former member of Romania’s Davis Cup team, died in a hospital in France at the age of 75.

He had recently been rushed to a clinic in Dijon after being treated in the country following a stroke he suffered earlier this summer.

The businessman Sever Muresan died in a hospital in France

Sever Mureșan suffered a stroke in July of this year and was hospitalized in a serious condition at the Military Hospital. He ended up in the Intensive Care Unit, his condition progressively deteriorating.

Later, the tycoon’s son and daughter made every effort to ensure their father the best treatments in France. In vain, Sever Muresan died on Tuesday evening, with his children by his side.

According to information held by thoughtthe lifeless body of Sever Muresan will be brought to the country. The former businessman is to be buried in his hometown, Câmpia Turzii.

Iconic figure of Romanian tennis

Sever Mureșan graduated from the Institute of Physical Education and Sport and became the national tennis champion in 1968, in the doubles event. Two years later, he became the first Romanian member of the Association of Tennis Professionals and was invited to the Romanian Davis Cup team.

Two years after the 1989 Revolution, he managed to bring the Burgundia Open tennis tournament, which he organized in Dijon, to Bucharest. In those days, the Romanian Open Tennis was among the five most important clay tennis tournaments in the world.

Also at the beginning of the 1990s, Sever Mureșan founded Banca Dacia Felix, which at one point was a sponsor of Cluj University. He also made possible the visit of American President George Bush to Romania in 2002.
