Daniel David explained why he accepted the position of Minister of Education in the Ciolacu 2 Government.

“As you already know, I took over the portfolio of the Ministry of Education and Research. I did this to help Euro-Atlantic Romania face a bizarre, isolationist, anti-science approach with elements of pseudo-religion. The situation is so serious that, beyond doubts and complaints, no one who can contribute something can refuse to help. And the main antidote to this move against Euro-Atlantic Romania is represented by education and science (research)”, wrote Daniel David on Facebook.



The new Minister of Education had a message for his colleagues from Babeş-Bolyai University. At the same time, he announced that he was suspended from the position of rector.

“In accordance with the requirements of the law, I suspended myself from the position of rector of our University, and, starting on December 30, 2024, upon the proposal of the Board of Administration and subject to its approval by the UBB Senate, the interim will be provided by the UBB vice-rector for research-development-innovation and the relationship with doctorates, prof. university Dr. Adrian Petrusel. I trust that our University is an institution already well established institutionally, which will not be majorly affected by this situation, and the interim rector is an academic personality (among the first 2% of the world’s most cited scientists in his specialized field), with a lot of administrative experience (as a former dean for several terms and vice-rector), who will continue the implementation of the “UBB Q-Optimum” Program (2024-2029): UBB – European class university world-class, an approach started in March 2024 by the entire team of the rectorate and assumed by our community”, said David.

He announced that at the end of his term as minister he will return to the position of rector.

“At the end of the minister’s mandate – shorter or longer – I will be honored to resume the position of acting rector of our University. I still wish you Happy Holidays!”, stated Daniel David.
