The Ministry of Children denounces to the Prosecutor’s Office the center for migrant minors opened by Ayuso in Fuenlabrada

The Ministry of Children has reported to the Prosecutor’s Office the Cantueña center for migrant minors, a project promoted by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, in the Madrid town of Fuenlabrada. According to the department directed by Sira Rego, the reception of minors in this center represents a violation of their fundamental rights as it is located in the middle of an industrial estate and far from the nearest urban centers.

In the complaint to the Minors Unit of the State Attorney General’s Office, which El País has reported and to which EFE has had access, the Ministry of Children and Youth explains that the management contract for the Cantueña first reception center for foreign minors unaccompanied “does not serve the best interests of the minor” by not guaranteeing their well-being, and being far from the four closest urban centers: Parla, Pinto, Fuenlabrada and Getafe.

According to the Ministry in the complaint, the contract for the management of the Cantueña first reception center for migrant minors from the Community of Madrid could represent a serious violation of the rights of children “and a detriment to the guarantee of the best interests of the minor.” , a key figure in the legal system and international treaties signed by Spain.”

The contract stipulates that the center has 96 places for immediate care of minors of adolescent age, who arrive in the Community of Madrid without family accompaniment.

It is understood as a medium-stay center until the minor comes of age or while his suitability in the center is assessed. The contract provides that the duration of the half-stay regime may exceed six months.

This center became a support device for the Casa de Campo center, the latter being the reference in the Community of Madrid for the State Security Forces and Bodies when an unaccompanied foreign minor is located.
