The Ministry of Finance has officially published the austerity ordinance
The Ministry of Finance published on Sunday the “train” ordinance which freezes salaries at the budget level of November 2024, blocks new hires and tries to reduce budget expenditures in order to restore the situation of public finances that were out of control by the Ciolacu 1 Government.
The Ciolacu 2 government must now take these measures to stop public spending and reduce the budget deficit in order to fit into the budget reduction trajectory agreed in the fall with the IMF.
These measures, which target many categories and budget expenditures, must be applied from January 1.
The ordinance does not talk about tax increases, but most likely after the presidential elections – March/April 2025 – we can expect such measures.
Below you have the full content of the “trenuleţ” ordinance put up for public debate by the Ministry of Finance and which should be adopted on Monday, December 30, by the Ciolacu 2 Government.
