The Ministry of Health waives residency!

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, announced that the residency will be taken over by the Medical universities, and the recognition of the professional qualification, including the one from abroad, will be simplified by the College of Doctors taking over.

“We are at the stage where the residency will be taken over by the universities. In any case, it took place there from a professional point of view. It is not normal for the Ministry of Health, the Directorate of Public Health to coordinate an activity carried out by others who do not have any subordinate relationship, it is the universities that are autonomous”, said Alexandru Rafila to Euronews, according to news.ro.

The Minister of Health specified that the universities will also coordinate the recognition of internships for resident doctors. “Recognition of internships for medical residents carried out abroad will be done at each university by the residency coordinator.

Until now, there was a circuit in which the coordinator gave an opinion, sent it to DSP, DSP sent it to the Ministry, the ministry to a health committee, after which the circuit was reversed and it took a long time. We are solving this quickly,” said Rafila.

Alexandru Rafila added that the College of Doctors will also get involved by recognizing the professional qualification, including for doctors coming from abroad.

“The recognition of the professional qualification, including for colleagues who come from abroad and want to practice in Romania, Romanian doctors, in general, we discussed with the College of Doctors, that this activity be taken over by the College of Doctors. Of course, we have to change the legislation, we will change it, so that the recognition does not take so long and people can practice in our country”, said Rafila.

Asked if the incomes of Romanian doctors are approaching the incomes of doctors in France, Rafila explained that this is already happening, plus there are some benefits. “Romania’s incomes are approaching those of France. Many times here people have a house, they don’t have to pay rent anymore, there they don’t”, said Rafila.
