The browser dedicated to gamers, Opera GX, receives the most important update since its debut in 2019, introducing a completely redesigned interface, superior performance and extensive customization options.
A new visual identity
At the heart of this update is “Underwave”, a new design language that transforms the look of the browser.
This visual refresh includes a custom font with over 1,200 hand-crafted glyphs with support for the Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek alphabets.
The redesign extends to all components of the browser, creating what Opera calls “a more immersive experience.”
Technical improvements
The update introduces a Multithread composition engine.
It offers smoother performance and improved responsiveness, even when running multiple mods and customizations.
It also optimizes resource usage while enabling more complex animations and visual effects.
Extensive customization options
Opera GX has expanded its editing capabilities with new customization features that include: a new Focus mode for interface contrast control, interface opacity and blur control, and vignette effects plus adjustable backgrounds.
Last but not least, it comes with home page customization options.
Quick menu
The browser’s modes system has been redesigned with a quick menu in the taskbar, allowing users to instantly enable or disable categories of modes.
Users can now save and switch between different configurations with a single click, choosing from over 8,000 modes available.
The update also brings new official mods that take advantage of the improved visual capabilities, offering custom splash screens, fonts, speed dial effects, and icons.
Everyday use
There are several new features that focus on user comfort and functionality.
We are talking about the integration of stickers compatible with iMessage and WhatsApp, a forced dark mode for all web pages and easy identification of tabs containing video calls.
In addition, users can enjoy a management optimized of tabs with tooltips for page information, improved GX Corner with content highlighting and MidnightFX shader with blue light reduction.
AI-powered features and availability
For users with Nvidia RTX graphics cards, the update includes AI-based features that optimize upscaling for both images and video content.
The update is available on all platforms, both for desktop and mobile versions of this browser.
