The most in-demand skills in the next 10 years have been named – Teller Report Teller Report

Victoria Podsukhina, teacher, head of regional teaching at the educational company MAXIMUM Education, spoke in a conversation with RT about what skills will be in demand in the next five to ten years.

“First of all, it is necessary to mention general technical literacy and digital skills, which today no highly qualified specialist can do without. The higher the growth of automation and the number of new technologies in our lives, the more often employers want to see people with experience in programming and working with artificial intelligence on site,” the expert noted.

In her opinion, if a teenager is already developing basic programming skills, digital design, and analyzing big data, then in the future he will become more competitive.

Also, according to the specialist, the next very important group of skills concerns critical thinking and problem solving.

“Automation of many processes has made a person’s life easier and partly eliminated routine. However, making difficult, responsible decisions still lies with the individual. Large companies very carefully search the labor market for people who can generate innovative ideas, improve productivity, solve problems, and critically evaluate the situation. In addition, in a rapidly changing world, it is important to be flexible and adaptive in order to quickly adapt to new tasks, situations, and requirements,” Podsukhina explained.

She also emphasized that specialists in all industries need to develop communication skills.

“For a professional, it is important to be able to clearly express your thoughts, accurately set tasks, work in a team, and negotiate. Communication helps build relationships in a team and make work within it effective. Emotional intelligence is also important, that is, the ability to recognize, understand and manage your emotions, as well as be sensitive to the emotions of other people. This quality is becoming increasingly in demand in the labor market, because even in the digital world, interpersonal communication is the foundation of strong business relationships,” added RT’s interlocutor.

It is noted that the market is constantly changing, as are its trends.

“Therefore, adaptability and flexibility, the ability to adapt to new conditions and master new technologies and methods of communication are also important. It is also important to be prepared to change career directions and constantly learn new things. The skill of creativity and the ability to implement new, innovative ideas remains relevant. The capacity for ideas and innovation develops over time. As a rule, such people see opportunities where others see problems, and are able to generate many solutions,” the teacher said.

Leadership skills are also important, the expert believes.

“Given rapid digitalization and machine learning, all team management will be based on leadership qualities. What should a leader be able to do? Respond to the demands of a changing business, be able to motivate a team and lead it to results. Today, so-called cross-functional skills are also valued, in which a person can effectively work with colleagues from other departments not related to his activities and understand at a basic level in related areas,” concluded Podsukhina.

Previously, Elena Provozen, Director of Educational Product Development at Maxitet IT College, recommended in a conversation with RT to start collecting a portfolio in high school in order to gradually accumulate experience and achievements.
