How have cities changed this year? What were the big news? Which buildings will we remember among those completed in the past twelve months? We have selected ten architectures inaugurated in 2024 which, without necessarily being the best, describe current trends well.

Many, if not all, have in their design focus attention towards environment and naturefrom those who are inspired by and integrate into the surrounding landscape, to those who have achieved the highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Some are aimed at the inhabitants of tomorrow, others wink at those of the past. And then the most diverse uses, from new economic districts to the most modern cultural centers, passing through the bridges that connect the banks. Very green (preferably native) and a strong use of white. Many i plays of lightthe increasingly high-performance and lightweight innovative materials, the cuts and “embroideries” of lines that want to float lightly, but also the geometric rigor of full shapes anchored to the ground.

The geographical origin is varied: ranging from China to the United States, but also India, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and much of Europe, such as Austria, Portugal, France and Germany. Representing Italy are many Italian architects who work as established designers in every part of the world. From the greats of international architecture to the most emerging realities, here is one list of architectures we will remember from this year.
