Bentley has officially presented the new Flying Spur. The British manufacturer says that we are dealing with the most powerful four-door model in its history.
The fourth generation of Bentley’s luxury limousine has officially debuted. Initially, customers will only have the top Speed version available, like the new Continental GT.
The high-performance version of the Flying Spur uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain. At its base is a 4.0-liter V8 engine, which is joined by an electric motor, and the total reaches 782 hp and 1,000 Nm. All power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels.
Thanks to the surplus of 147 hp compared to the previous model, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. Also, this Ultra Performance Hybrid, as the manufacturer calls it, can travel up to 76 kilometers on a single charge. The Flying Spur is equipped with a 25.9 kWh battery, which can be AC charged at 11 kW. In pure electric mode, the Flying Spur can reach a top speed of 140 km/h.
The new Bentley Flying Spur does not have a radically different design
The design differences between the new model and its predecessor are minimal. We can say that we are dealing more with a facelift, given that the car uses the same chassis. The luxury sedan also retains the four headlights, but also the taillights that include the light signature in the shape of the letter B. A winged B also sits above the radiator grille, in classic Bentley style. The exterior is completed by new models of 22-inch rims.
Inside, Bentley says it has fitted new seats, and the cabin can be customized with various exclusive materials and sophisticated finishes. The dashboard has received new graphics, being complemented by a central 12.3-inch screen. As before, it can disappear with a simple push of a button, as customers can select two other panels – one with clocks, the other simple, matched with the rest of the interior decorations.
A choice of three audio systems is offered for the new Flying Spur. The standard system has 10 speakers and 650W, while a 1,500W, 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with illuminated speaker grills is intended for more discerning customers. For true audiophiles there is a 2,200W Naim system with 19 speakers with active bass transducers built into the front seats and eight sound modes.
