Domestic. An elderly couple in their 80s from Mjölby have been missing since they went on a mushroom excursion in the forests northeast of Boxholm. The couple’s car has been found parked in the same place since Friday – but they themselves are gone without a trace.

The police were alerted on Monday by a concerned relative, which triggered an extensive search effort in the area. During the afternoon, the search began with the help of several dog patrols and drones.

On Monday evening, a decision was made to initiate a rescue operation according to the LSO, the law on protection against accidents.

Missing People has also been linked. Over 100 people were out searching on Tuesday evening.

– We will continue as long as there are people who want to search, says Lotta Klang Bergström at Missing People to Aftonbladet.

Despite the intensive efforts, no trace of the couple has been found. At 18.50 on Tuesday evening, the police announced that the search would continue during the night, but on a limited scale as the darkness made the work difficult.

The police emphasize that they must plan their resources carefully in order to maintain the search until the couple is found.

The police continue to urge the public to report any sightings in the area. Anyone with information about the missing persons is asked to call 112.
