London – A new command structure will start operating in the North Atlantic Alliance from September, which will have the task of coordinating aid to Ukraine. According to Reuters, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this today. He added that the new structure will be based in Germany and will have around 700 people at its disposal.
“We agreed to establish a command to coordinate and provide assistance and training to Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said on the sidelines of a meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) in Britain.
The member states agreed at a summit in Washington last week to coordinate the delivery of military aid and training of Ukrainian soldiers within NATO. They also promised to continue helping Kiev in building an army capable of defeating Russia, which invaded Ukraine militarily in February 2022. Next year, they will provide at least 40 billion dollars (almost a trillion crowns) for this, which corresponds to the previous amount of support.
Among other things, NATO will support the establishment of a new Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) in Poland, she announced already in the center of the alliance. In the center, soldiers from the countries of the alliance and from Ukraine will exchange knowledge about the war in Ukraine and the actions of the Russian army.
