Apple plans to release the 2nd generation AirTag in mid-2025. Journalist Mark Gurman reported this in his newsletter Bloomberg Power On.
The new AirTag is currently at the production testing stage.
The AirTag is expected to feature improved location tracking thanks to the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that first appeared in the iPhone 15.
The new AirTag will make it more difficult to remove the speaker. But the tag design will not be much different from the first generation.
