Waiting for new material from Down the end is coming soon! Well, “soon” in the sense that this will be the first edition Down since their EP Down IV, Pt. 2 from 2014, and is expected to arrive sometime next year. According to the guitarist Down, Church of Windsteinin an interview with That Metal Interviewthere are ten new songs that are ready and the writing should be done soon.
“I write with Down team and we are finalizing the lyrics for the album that will be released next year,” added Windstein. “We got ten new songs, man. That’s great.”
Composition Down for the year 2024 they do Windstein (Crowbar) and fellow guitarist Pepper Keenan (Corrosion Of Conformity), vowel Phil Anselmo (Pantera), bassist Patrick Bruders (Saint Vitusthe former Crowbar), and a drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod). As for the new material, Windstein in an earlier interview with Concrete Spew stated that the new Down sounds like an old one Down. That’s good news.
“It just sounds like Down,” Windstein said. “It’s refreshing because we haven’t done that in a long time, getting together and working together — heck — 12 years or whatever. Sounds like DownI think it’s an older style Down. It’s like we’ve reached a point where… Like, an album NOLA was so simple, it wrote itself; it was that simple. And this is how a new album is created, which is great.
We are not complicating things too much. Phillip does not try to write excessively complex texts. We’re just back — I hate to say ‘back’, because all we do is Downbut I think we’re kind of… We needed to go back and just say to each other, ‘Let’s get together and do it like we did in the beginning.’ And so it seems to me. It’s very magical. Ideas and collaboration just flow naturally.”
