The WHQL signed software package 24.9.1 does not offer bug fixes either.
AMD has released AMD Software release 24.9.1, which fixes Frostpunk 2, the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and offers a suitable profile for the God of War Ragnarök games and the DirectX 11 update of The Sims 4. In addition, Final Fantasy XIV received extended opportunities for Radeon Boost, while Black Myth: Wukong, Frostpunk 2, Creatures of Ava, God of War Ragnarök and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut received HYPR-RX support. Another addition is that a version of Radeon Anti-Lag 2 that works with the Vulkan API is available for Counter-Strike 2.

The second iteration of the image-generating Fluid Motion Frames technique, called Fluid Motion Frames 2, has officially become available in the device driver. This still works on the driver side, so it does not need to be implemented within the application, and primarily contains optimizations compared to its predecessor. The new image generator can now not only be enabled, but also configured. Among other things, you can choose the quality offered, so you can request a High or Performance setting. The former is obviously better, while the latter gives a worse result, but of course faster. The other configuration option is the search mode, which is responsible for the continuity of the frame display during image generation, including the activation of the so-called fallback. Specifically, this means temporarily stopping image generation for fast-moving scenes, thus ensuring the best interpolated image quality. This search mode can also be configured in the form of Standard and High settings. It should be noted here that the former is the better choice for 1080p resolution, while the latter is the better choice for 1440p or better resolution.
Both modes have Auto configuration by default – which can be changed individually. This sets the optimal parameter for resolution in search mode, while in performance mode IGPs run with the faster setting and dedicated GPUs with the slower but better quality setting. By the way, the search mode already uses machine learning, so it is partly an AI task. Based on AMD’s measurements, the innovation, abbreviated as AFMF 2, with active HYPR-RX results in an average acceleration of 250%.

According to AMD, Fluid Motion Frames 2 works with lower latency compared to its predecessor when Radeon Anti-Lag or Radeon Anti-Lag 2 is active, and it also works with Radeon Chill. In addition to the above, Fluid Motion Frames 2 not only supports all DirectX 11 and 12 games, but also titles written for the Vulkan and OpenGL APIs, and on hybrid graphics configurations, it runs on a graphics controller bound to the display, which it typically offloads the IGP, i.e. the dedicated GPU performing the mapping.
AMD has also brought an updated Vulkan implementation that now supports the following extensions:
- VK_AMD_anti_lag
- VK_KHR_maintenance7
- VK_KHR_pipeline_binary
- VK_EXT_shader_object
A change for the Microsoft Agility SDK 1.715.0 Preview release is that the new driver supports the Work Graphs capability, which is still under development, supplemented with the Mesh Nodes function, which can be applied to Radeons based on the RDNA 3 architecture and enables real-time content generation.
A function called Geometric Downscaling has also been introduced, which results in less image distortion on Radeon 800M IGPs and Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs when the played relatively high-resolution video has to be scaled to the lower resolution of the given window.

In terms of bugs, the new package fixes a number of issues, which are detailed in the list below:
- We managed to eliminate the stability problems of Final Fantasy XIV and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, as well as the image quality problems of Black Myth: Wukong and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, which could occur in certain situations.
- AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition will no longer launch unexpectedly when returning from sleep mode
- When recording with the AV1 codec, the image and sound will now definitely stay in sync
The driver package version 24.9.1 supports the 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 operating systems and can be installed for Radeon RX 5000, 6000, and 7000 series graphics cards, as well as for mobile Radeons using at least the first generation RDNA design, and also supports Also Ryzen and Athlon APUs with an IGP based on the RDNA architecture. For notebooks, AMD offers general product support, that is, the package can be installed on notebooks with the appropriate hardware, but they are not responsible for the unique, specific functions, which still require separate product support from the manufacturer of the given system.
