the new Ami is a smile in town

The Citroën Ami 2025 retains its compact dimensions, but the vehicle now sports a more expressive face. The vehicle, which stands out for its symmetrical architecture and minimalist look, has seen its design evolve for a more “human” look. The headlights, placed higher and surrounded by black, are reminiscent of the eyelids of a cartoon character, while a broad smile, materialized by a molding under the lights, gives the Friend a benevolent appearance. This transformation gives even more personality to the electric quadricycle.

The more mature, but still mischievous Friend

References to Citroën’s past are also present. The designers wanted to pay homage to the good old 2CV by integrating streaks on the vehicle’s wings, a subtle but fun nod. According to the manufacturer, the Ami is a legitimate descendant of this iconic car, both through its simplicity and its mission of accessibility.

The interior of the vehicle remains unchanged. Simplicity is key, with three buttons on the dashboard and two lightweight plastic seats. This minimalist space, which evokes a low-cost airplane cabin, perfectly meets the needs of micromobility. However, it is on the exterior where the changes are most visible, notably with the wheel covers decorated with geometric patterns which add a playful touch to the overall design.

In addition to the standard version of the Ami, Citroën presented original concepts, including the “Buggy Vision”, a model intended for enthusiasts of nautical leisure activities. Designed for beaches, it features wide tires, yellow LED headlights and even a kite board holder. This model is unfortunately not planned for production, but it shows the flexibility of the Ami’s design and its potential for new uses.

Citroën also focuses on inclusion with the “My Ami For All” version, adapted for people with reduced mobility. This version allows you to transport a wheelchair.

With a range of 75 km and a maximum speed of 45 km/h, the Ami is still limited to intra-urban travel. Launched in 2020, the Friend has won over more than 65,000 users, despite its beginnings sometimes mocked for its “toy” appearance. Citroën has been able to transform this perception into strength, by playing on the playful character of the vehicle. With a price which should remain around 8,000 euros, the new Ami 2025 wants to perpetuate this heritage while being even more endearing.
