The new Bentley Continental GT has entered series production

The new generation Bentley Continental GT has entered series production. The first copy will enter the British manufacturer’s Heritage collection.

The first example of the fourth generation Bentley Continental GT rolled off the production line in time for the 136th anniversary of the birth of Walter Owen Bentley.

With the same specifications as the car that appeared in the unofficial “Underwater Speed Record” and the launch film, the first new Continental GT is finished in Tourmaline Green with a Gravity Gray and Mandarin interior. The car will begin life as a UK Press Fleet car before joining Bentley’s Heritage Collection where it will be kept forever. The car will be followed off the production line by the first customer cars, each specified in one of the 46 billion possible configurations via the manufacturer’s options list.

The Bentley Continental GT uses a hybrid powertrain

“The fourth generation Continental GT is a true masterpiece. The vibrant launch color of Tourmaline Green is a modern interpretation of the notable Bentley Green, designed and painted by our in-house craftsmen. The vehicle completed an amazing 92 assembly stations throughout the production process and we also pushed the boundaries of our vehicle’s interior design with three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting and dark chrome finishes. Our Crewe artisans have really gone above and beyond, ensuring that every detail exudes luxury,” said Andreas Lehe, member of the production board.

The new Bentley Continental GT Speed uses a PHEV powertrain. It is based on a 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 600 hp and is assisted by a 190 hp electric motor, the combined power of the system being 782 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque.

All the power is taken over by an 8-speed automatic gearbox, being transmitted to all four wheels via a permanent all-wheel drive system.

Thus, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 in just 3.2 seconds, and the coupe can reach a maximum speed of 335 km/h. The convertible sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 285 km/h.
