Barely arrived on our roads, the third generation Dacia Duster must already go through the brand’s workshops for a problem with “electrical continuity breakage”.
Barely arrived and already called back! This is a rather common adage unfortunately on our modern cars, and the third generation Dacia Duster, which has been arriving on our roads for a few weeks already, is unfortunately no exception.
The Duster begins its new career with a first official recall. The latter aims to prevent a risk of electrical continuity breakage which can have various consequences on the safety and performance of the vehicle.
A preventive reminder
Since October 24, 2024, Dacia has launched a recall campaign under the code 0EFZ. In France, approximately 2,680 owners received a notice asking them to go to one of the Renault-Dacia network workshops for an intervention. Globally, according to data from the German Ministry of Transport (KBA), there are more than 27,600 vehicles which are affected, including certain examples bearing the Renault brand in other markets.
The problem would be linked to a small component, the connector R107located near the driving position. In fact, the driver’s foot could inadvertently uncouple this connector, leading to a loss of electrical continuity between the wiring in the engine compartment and that in the passenger compartment. Obviously, this is not without consequences, even if Dacia has not noted any incident at the moment. However, this problem could cause a reduction in steering assistance, loss of traction, or even failure of airbags, reversing sensors and braking systems.
Fast and free intervention
Fortunately for customers, the intervention is rapid, while for Dacia, the number of vehicles being relatively low on the roads at the moment, it will not cost too much. The mechanics will therefore simply have to change the position of connector R107 to move it out of reach of the driver’s foot and to reinforce its protection. This operation lasts approximately 35 minutes and won’t cost customers a cent.
The vehicles affected by this recall are those manufactured before July 10, 2024. Owners will receive notification by registered mail if their vehicle is one of the affected models. For those who wish to check now whether their Dacia Duster requires this intervention, Dacia offers a dedicated online service. Simply enter the vehicle’s serial number, which can be found in box E of the registration document and at the base of the driver’s side windshield, on the brand’s official website.
