The new engines of the Cupra Formentor and Leon

Presented a few months ago the Cupra Formentor and Cupra Leon with the summer of 2024 they will see their respective engine ranges expand, welcoming thermal (petrol and diesel) and electrified (petrol) units with the Leon which in the station wagon version finally welcomes the 2.0 4-cylinder 333 HP, the most powerful in the range.

The Spanish SUV and compact model can already be ordered with prices starting from 33,450 euros for the Leon, 34,600 for the station wagon and 37,200 euros for the SUV-coupé.

The new engines of the Cupra Formentor are positioned at the heart of the Spanish SUV range and do not affect in the slightest the primacy of the 333 HP VZ. The novelties are represented by the availability of the 1.5 TSI 150 HP with 6-speed manual transmission – which represents the entry level – and in a plug-in version with 204. There is also space for diesel with the arrival of the well-known 2.0 TDI 150 HP with front-wheel drive and combined with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Cupra Leon, the new engines

The Cupra Leon restyling on the occasion of the price list update for summer 2024 is now available with new engine options. Starting from the less powerful engines we find the 1.5 TSI 150 HP with manual transmissionflanked by the new 204 hp eHybrid plug-in hybrid powertrain with DSG, which expands the electrified offering.

The third novelty, then, is the new 2.0 TSI VZ and 300 CVwith front-wheel drive, 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and electronically controlled self-locking front differential, available for the five-door version.

Finally the latest addition is the new powertrain from 333 CV for the station wagon version, combined exclusively with 4Drive all-wheel drive and with torque splitter derived directly from the system already present on the new generation Audi S3 and Golf R.

The VZ Extreme specials

With the introduction of the sportier 2.0 TSI engines to the range, with 300 HP and front-wheel drive for the five-door model and 333 HP and all-wheel drive for the station wagon, the special trim also debuts in the 2024 Cupra Leon price list. VZ Extremewhich takes the sportiness of the two cars to a higher level.

The top-of-the-range version of the Leon, in fact, includes a very rich equipment, not only from the technological point of view, with an audio system Sennheiser with 11 speakers and Matrix LED headlights, but also from a dynamic point of view, thanks to the addition on the 2.0-litre versions of the front braking system with Akebono calipers 6 pumps (Brembo 4-piston on the eHybrid), and from an aesthetic point of view, with dedicated bumpers and side skirts and with internal seats Cup Bucket exclusive.

The new prices

The prices of the Spanish sports car, thanks to the addition of the manual gearbox engine, now start at 33.450 euronecessary to take home a model with the non-electrified 1.5 TSI 150 HP, and they reach up to 59.700 eurorequired to purchase a Cupra Leon Sportstourer VZ Extreme with the 2.0 TSI 4Drive DSG 333 hp and Torque Splitter.
