The new Lexus supercar takes to the track

From the Toyota GR GT3 Concept at the Lexus LFR. This will be the fate of the prototype shown at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will give life to the hypercar successor to the Lexus LFA. A heavy legacy for the Japanese brand, which will also base the RC F GT3 on this model, the racing car that will take part in the 2026 WEC season.

Work on the super sports car is proceeding at full speed and a new spy video published on X.

Testing Fuji

Shot during testing in Japan at the Fuji Speedwaythe mysterious coupĂ© is put to the ropes by the developers. However, unlike the prototype, the absence of the enormous rear wing is noticeable, as well as that of the side exhausts. The production car, therefore, seems to be more “civilized” compared to the concept, even if the performance should always be very interesting.

As for the engine of the sports flagship, according to some rumours there should be a V8 biturbo. The exact power and performance figures remain a mystery, but we assume this model will be more powerful than the legendary LFA, which was powered by a 560bhp V10.

Doubts about the name

Regarding the name, we know that the Toyota Group has registered the “LFR” trademark for Europe, but the company’s management has not yet officially confirmed whether the model will actually be called LFR or whether the LFA acronym will be revived.

We won’t have to wait long, however, to find out more details. Considering that the racing car will be presented in 2025at the same time (or a few months later) Lexus should present the LFR, which – like the LFA – could be produced in a limited edition and thus become the desire of a few lucky collectors.
