The new generation of the MG HS SUV was recently tested by the Euro NCAP organization. The model obtained 5 stars in safety tests.
The MG HS received a new generation this summer, promising more features and efficiency in addition to the updated design. The car also offers a high level of safety, as evidenced by the Euro NCAP tests.
As we well know, the Euro NCAP safety tests analyze several aspects, including the impact protection of adults and children, the protection of pedestrians, but also the effectiveness of the assistance systems with which the car is equipped.
Launched in July this year, the new MG HS introduced a new design, being a completely different platform. And it seems that the new model of the British manufacturer, now under Chinese patronage, managed to achieve respectable scores for all test categories.
The new generation MG HS achieved 5 stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests
The SUV was rated 90% for occupant protection and 85% for child protection. Also, the MG HS was scored with a score of 83% for pedestrian protection, and the suite of safety systems registered a rating of 74%.
All models in the HS range benefit from an enhanced MG Pilot package, which includes features such as Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, driver attention alert, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic alert and door open warning as standard. Automatic transmission MG HS models are also equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist.
In Romania, MG offers two engines for the new HS, at least for the moment. The base engine is a 1.5 liter petrol unit that produces 169 PS and 275 Nm. This is mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds.
The other option is a plug-in hybrid. It is based on a 1.5 liter petrol engine, but which produces 142 HP, combined with a 209 HP electric motor. MG HS PHEV uses a 24.7 kWh battery, and the manufacturer says that autonomy in pure electric mode can reach 120 kilometers.
