The new MG3 generation officially debuts in Romania. All versions are equipped with a 194 hp hybrid engine.
The British-Chinese manufacturer presented at the beginning of this year, at the Geneva Motor Show, the new generation MG3. For the first time, it will also be available in Europe, including Romania, where it will compete with cars such as Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa and Toyota Yaris or Mazda2 Hybrid.
For the first time, the MG3 will be available to customers across Europe, having previously only been offered in the UK. Three trim levels will be available in Europe at launch, all sharing the new Hybrid+ powertrain.
The car stands out for its aggressive design, as we also saw on the MG4 or the new generation MG HS. Sharp headlights, sharp lines and a large grille give the car a distinctive look.
The strong ribbing continues on the sides, and the rear maintains a dynamic air, in tune with the front. Sharp taillights and a diffuser integrated into the rear bumper contribute to the small hatchback’s sporty appearance.
The new MG3 Hybrid has a declared consumption of 4.4 liters/100 km
The interior of the MG3 is very similar to that found on the electric MG4. The car uses a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch center screen. In addition, below it we see a row of physical buttons for the most important functions of the car. Also, regardless of trim level, the car comes equipped with these screens.
But the most important aspect of the car is the new hybrid propulsion system. The car uses a thermal engine of 1.5 liters, which develops 102 HP, coupled with an electric motor of 136 HP. When the two engines are running simultaneously, the engine power reaches a combined total of 194 hp.
The thermal engine uses a three-speed automatic transmission, given the initial input of the electric motor. Thus, the MG3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. The company also says that the new engine has an efficiency of 41% and that it has an average consumption of 4.4 l/100 km.
In Romania, prices for the MG3 start at 19,500 euros. The most expensive model has a list price of 22,490 euros, and customers can choose only the metallic color as an additional option.
