2024 continues to be a year of innovations at home Mitsubishi. After ASX and Colt, the two models based respectively on Renault Captur and Clio, the Japanese manufacturer has announced that the October 1st in Madrid will present the new Outlander PHEV.
The brand’s largest SUV has been partially revealed in a teaser, which previews its shape and design.
First information
The teaser photo reveals a large grille with the classic hourglass style of the brand’s most recent models. Mitsubishi emphasizes that the silhouette is based on the Japanese concept “I-Fu-Do-Do”, which evokes authenticity and majesty.
With over 200,000 units sold since 2013 – the year the first generation was launched – the Outlander PHEV has been specifically designed for theEuropaThere are no precise indications on the power and autonomy in electric mode, with the brand limiting itself to talking about a double engine and the presence of all-wheel drive.
Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrids
Let’s remember that the previous generation of the Outlander plug-in hybrid was equipped with a 2.4 petrol engine with 135 HP and two electric motors, one at the front with 82 HP and one at the rear with 95 HP, for an electric range of around 40 km guaranteed by the 13.8 kWh battery.
Currently, the only plug-in hybrid SUV in the Mitsubishi range is the Eclipse Cross, powered by a 187 hp powertrain. Again, the battery is 13.8 kWh and the declared range is over 50 km.
In all likelihood, the next-generation Outlander will feature a new drumswhile the total system power could well exceed 250 hp. Overall, we expect a “transfer” of technologies, the result of the alliance with Renault and Nissan.
