Nissan presented the new generation of the Patrol SUV in Abu Dhabi. The new Patrol wants to take on the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The seventh-generation Nissan Patrol has officially debuted and takes aim at the Toyota Land Cruiser. And what better place to launch the new model than Abu Dhabi, where this type of car is highly valued by customers.
The old generation was produced for 14 years, so it was time for a new start. The seventh iteration of the Patrol SUV is completely new, with a new range of engines, technologies and modern design. The Patrol retains its large SUV stature, and from the first images we can see a square, robust vehicle that adheres to the Japanese manufacturer’s new design philosophy.
The large front grille is complemented by headlights whose daytime running lights appear to continue inside the grille. The massive profile will be able to be complimented with a set of wheels up to 22 inches in diameter. The rear part has kept the same verticality, accentuated by the taillights that extend to the sides, joined by an LED strip mounted on the tailgate.
Nissan Patrol gets a new generation after 14 years
The interior of the new Patrol is upholstered in leather, trimmed with wood and, on some trim levels, the seats also offer a massage function and eight-way electric adjustments. On the dashboard sit two screens of 14.3 inches each, which create a “Monolith” panel of 28.6 inches diagonally. In addition, the Patrol can be equipped with two screens of 12.8 inches each for the rear passengers. They offer Miracast, HDMI or USB support.
The seventh-generation Patrol completely ditches the V8 engine. Instead, customers will be able to choose between two V6 engines. The first of them measures 3.8 liters, being naturally aspirated, and the maximum power generated is 316 HP and 386 Nm. Those who want more power will have at their disposal the 3.5 liter supercharged V6 engine with two turbines. This produces 425 hp and 700 Nm. Regardless of the engine, the new Patrol comes standard with the 9-speed automatic transmission, air suspension and the all-wheel drive system with 6 driving modes: Standard, Sand, Rock, Mud/Rut, Eco and Sport.
According to Nissan, the new generation of the Patrol SUV will be available in the Middle East markets from November 1, 2024. Prices have not been disclosed.
