The new plug-in hybrid SUV is revealed

The English manufacturer unveils the new MG EHS, a plug-in hybrid SUV which is offering a second generation that is unprecedented in many respects.

The MG HS is a model whose career began in 2018, before arriving on the European market in 2020 with a plug-in hybrid version called EHS. This has now been renewed with a second generation, presented last weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

A more assertive design

16 mm wider (1.89 metres in total) and 50 mm longer ( 4.67 meters in total) than its predecessor, the new MG EHS is distinguished above all by its height lowered by 22 mm and its wheelbase extended by 45 mm (2.77 meters in total), which give it sportier and more assertive proportions, as well as a more generous interior space.
The front end is in line with the latest productions of the MG brand, like the new MG3, with LED projectors thinner and connected by a central black insert, which give a more technological look and offer a better impression of width. This effect is also repeated at the rear, with LED taillights connected by a light strip, and featuring a distinctive X-shaped light signature.
“The previous iteration of the MG EHS family SUV was hugely popular. Once again for MG, the new generation raises the bar even higher with more equipment and technology, a completely revised MG design that sets the MG EHS apart from other SUVs and a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers over 100km of pure electric range.”declared Camille Caux, Product Marketing Manager at MG Motor France, on this occasion.

MG EHS II: a high-performance plug-in hybrid engine

Under the hood, the new MG EHS debuts a new plug-in hybrid enginewhich combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 142 horsepower with a 135 kW (184 horsepower) electric motor, for a combined output of 339 horsepower (249 kW) allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.
The set is completed by a large 21.4 kWh battery and a high-efficiency 110 kW generator, providing a 100% electric autonomy of up to 103 kmaccording to the combined WLTP cycle. Furthermore, thetotal autonomy can reach 1,000 kmthanks to a high-performance and efficient engine, and a fuel tank with a capacity of 55 liters.
Inside, technology is at the rendezvous with two 12.3-inch high-definition screens, and a connected infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The atmosphere is welcoming and spacious, with plenty of storage space on board as well as a trunk with a capacity of 441 liters.
The technological equipment includes in particular a new 360° panoramic vision camera, an induction charger for smartphones, and many other “MG Pilot” driver assistance systems.

The new MG EHS plug-in hybrid will be marketed in France from the month of November 2024.
