The current range smart will expand at the end of August with the arrival of the big #5the longest of the brand family that is now a bit German and a bit Chinese.
The debut in the East, according to what was reported by the magazine CarNewsChina.comwill take place on August 28th and in the following weeks the new crossover will also arrive in the rest of the world. Here are the details.
A generous smart
The largest of the smarts, as we anticipated in an article not long ago, will be an SUV medium size approximately 4.70 metres long and with a wheelbase of just under 3 metres, with an exterior design consisting of clean, square lines.
According to what the company communicated in the preliminary information of the model, thanks to the larger dimensions of the sisters #1 and #3 – especially in terms of wheelbase – it will be equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of at least 100 kWhwith 800 Volt architecture, to guarantee at least 550 km of autonomy (WLTP) on a single charge.

More information about the engines, however, was reported more recently by the Chinese portal CarNewsChina.comwho, in an in-depth analysis, explained that the smart #5 – just like its smaller sisters – it will surely be available in a single engine and in version twin engine, the first capable of delivering a peak power of approximately 250 kW (340 hp) and the second of approximately 267 kW (363 hp).
But that’s not all. According to the magazine, a Brabus version with a dual engine and a peak power of 1,000 kW (2,000 hp) could also arrive at a later date. 310 kW (421 CV).

According to what is reported by the magazine, one of the peculiarities of the new smart #5 will be the new driving mode. all-terrainwhich should allow the crossover to be driven off-road on sand, snow, mud and rocks, combined with some interiors totally different from those of its sisters and even more technological.
