The new Tesla Model Y debuts with Cybertruck-inspired design and longer ranges

Tesla has revealed the most important update for the Model Y electric SUV since its launch in 2019. The electric SUV benefits from a new design and increased autonomy.

It’s official, after a long wait, Tesla has unveiled the most significant update to the Model Y SUV since the car’s initial launch. For 2025, the American manufacturer has prepared significant design changes, but also promises that its most popular model will be able to travel more kilometers between charges.

The best seller worldwide now has a new face, inspired by the Cybertruck, but also by the new Tesla robotaxi Cybercab. From now on, the Model Y will be easily identified by the LED strip at the front, a design element very similar to that found on the Cybertruck and Cybercab, while the front bar has a design similar to that used on the Model 3 Highland.

At the rear, the new light strip with LED technology reigns supreme, mounted on a contrasting black background, and the tailgate is longer, extending further towards the bumper. It has also been restyled, now featuring a large speaker.

Tesla Model Y gets Cybertruck traits and better autonomy

If we move our attention to the interior, we can see that it fully respects the minimalist design philosophy that Tesla has accustomed us to, being an almost identical reproduction of the cabin on the new Tesla Model 3 facelift.

Like the Model 3 facelift, the electric SUV gets the same treatment for the dashboard, door panels and center console. Also, the central screen has grown subtly diagonally, from 15 inches to 15.4 inches. Although the transmission selector has been integrated into the center screen, the car retains the classic signal lever, unlike the Model 3 facelift.

right Carscoopsthe new Tesla Model Y will be available, at least initially, in two versions: the base version with rear-wheel drive and the Long Range version with all-wheel drive. Tesla has not announced the capacity of the batteries until now, but it has communicated the autonomy figures in the WLTP regime. The base variant will be able to travel 466 km between charges, while the Model Y Long Range AWD has an estimated range of 551 km. The charging speed remains unchanged (250 kW).

In addition, the car has become faster, and Tesla claims that the 0-100 acceleration times have decreased for both variants. The standard Model Y accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds (one second faster), while the Long Range AWD variant can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (faster by 0.7 seconds).
