The current generation Volvo XC90 received an important update at the beginning of September. The Swedish SUV receives official prices for the Romanian market as well.
The second-generation Volvo XC90 was launched a decade ago, and although the car’s design has remained modern even years after its launch, Volvo has launched a substantial facelift for its large SUV. It’s the second major update the XC90 has received and it brings not only a refreshed design, but also new technologies on board.
The front of the Swedish SUV has been completely redesigned, incorporating a larger grille, new full LED headlights and a stylish bumper. From the side, the changes are not so obvious, but the XC90 now offers new wheel designs. The rear has received subtle changes, visible in the area of the taillights, which have a slightly different light signature compared to the previous version.
New materials and technologies in the interior
Along with the revised exterior, the XC90’s cabin has also been upgraded with new materials and technologies. Now, the SUV comes standard with an 11-inch diagonal central screen. It runs Android Automotive, with integrated Google Maps and the ability to download apps via the Play Store directly in the car.
Volvo also took customer feedback into account and redesigned the center console. There are new cup holders and the wireless charging pad for mobile phones has been relocated for better ergonomics.
For now, Romanian customers will have only one engine at their disposal, namely the top one, a 455 HP PHEV. As before, at its base is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The thermal engine is assisted by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, the total power of the hybrid system being 455 HP and 709 Nm. The 19 kWh battery should provide a maximum range of 71 kilometers on a single charge.
In Romania, prices for the XC90 facelift start at 89,530 euros for the Core equipment and reach 99,530 euros for the Ultra equipment level.
