We may have had, until October 2024, four consecutive reductions in the new registrations of new cars, but the year is still at positive levels compared to the corresponding period last year. According to ELSTAT’s primary data and SEAA’s processing, in the first ten months of 2024, 117,707 vehicles were registered, while in the corresponding period in 2023, 115,792 vehicles were registered.

Despite the decreases, in July -1.4%, in August -21.4%, in September -15.2% and in October -14.3%, classifications are at +1.7%. The chief importers of SEAA estimate that both November and December will see a rise in registrations. Let’s not forget the offers that are in effect due to Black Friday.
The seven cars selected for the title of “Car of the Year 2025” have been announced. In alphabetical order they are Alfa Romeo Junior, Citroen e C3/C3, Cupra Terramar, Dacia Duster, Hyundai Inster, KIA EV3 and Renault 5/AlpineA290.

There were 42 cars on the original list. The 60 European journalists of the special press from 23 countries, after testing and evaluating the 42 cars, chose seven for the title of “Car of the Year 2025”. Greece is represented by the magazine 4TROCHOI with the vote of Ms. Eleni Xenakis, Editorial Director of the medium. 4TROHOI has been voting for the Car of the Year since 1982, initially with Kostas Kavvathas and then with Stratis Hatzipanagiotou.

For EV3: Purely electric purely family car, with a top range of up to 605 km (WLTP). Kia has reached the COTY finalist stage six times in the last eight events and even won with an all-EV.
Renault 5 E-Tech electric: For the 4th consecutive year, Renault has a model in the final list of finalists for the Car of the Year title. This year with the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and the Alpine A290 it will try to repeat the success of the Scenic E-Tech electric, which won the title in 2024.
