According to a leaker, Nintendo will definitely not be planning the launch of the successor to the Switch this year.
On a popular Nintendo forum, the Famiboardsonas well as on the Chinese social media site Weibo, the information began to spread, according to which, contrary to previous rumors, Nintendo will not wait for the official announcement of the Switch 2 before the end of the year. The posts cite a source who leaked the OLED edition of the Nintendo Switch, hinted that Mario and Luigi: Brothership will be announced, and revealed not only when August’s Indie World and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase will debut, but what the show will contain too.
Of course, this does not mean that we should take the latest claims at face value, but if they are not mistaken, then Nintendo will not announce the handheld console under the working title Ounce until January 2025. The premiere will follow shortly after, in March.
Although all of this fits into the official narrative, it is not worth taking what you have just read at face value. All that is certain is that Nintendo will take the wraps off the Switch 2 before the end of the current financial year, i.e. March 31, 2025, which is already known to be backwards compatible, meaning that everyone can take their Switch game collection with them to the next console.
