The Nis airport building is being demolished and a new one is being built
Next year, the old building with the terminals at the Nis airport will be demolished and the construction of a new one will begin, to be completed by 2027.
This was announced by the director of the Airport of Serbia, Mihajlo Zdravković, who said that the new building with the arrival terminals will be connected to the building with the departure terminal, which was opened last summer.
The new building will have 5,000 square meters and, in addition to the arrivals terminals, it will house the offices of the airport administration, Zdravković told reporters.
On October 9, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese company Shandong on the extension and modernization of the airport “Konstantin Veliki” in Niš.
The memorandum covers the demolition of the old building and the construction of a new one, the reconstruction of the runway, the extension of the parking platform, the construction of the connection between the new building and the platform, the taxiway, the new control tower and the protective zone in the part of the Rujnička river.
Vesić then said that in about a month, a commercial contract on the construction and modernization of the Niš airport will be signed, the value of which will be more than 140 million euros, and he reminded that the state has so far invested 30 million euros in that airport.
Zdravković said that during the validity of the winter flight schedule from Niš, it is possible to travel to nine places, and for now it is certain that there will be 14 during the summer. Zurich.
Since negotiations are still underway with others, Zdravković expects that during the summer of 2025 and 2026 there will be flights from “Konstantin Veliki” airport to a greater number of places and that the management of the Niš airport is trying to re-establish the airline to Bergamo, which was one of the better ones.
