The number of missing people drops to 23 and the number of deaths in Valencia due to DANA remains at 214

The ante-mortem offices set up by the National Police and the Civil Guard in collaboration with forensic doctors currently have 23 active files for disappearance reports in the province of Valencia by the DANA.

This figure represents a decrease of nine active cases of disappearance compared to the previous day’s balance, which is due to the increase in identifications among the deceased, the increase in reports and the location of missing persons alive.

For its part, the number of fatalities recorded since the emergency occurred, on October 29, 2024, remains at 214, according to the statistical balance with the historical accumulation of the Data Integration Center (CID), closed at 8 p.m. this Monday, November 11, 2024.

All of these deceased people have had autopsies performed and 211 of them are fully identified (166 by fingerprints, 42 by DNA and three by hospital identification while alive). Meanwhile, only three unidentified bodies remain.

As indicated by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV), both parameters, active disappearances and the total number of fatalities, are different, so “they should not be added in any case.”

In this way, he specified that “the ante-mortem files of missing persons that are active correspond exclusively to complaints where relatives have provided different data and provided biological samples in the ante-mortem offices that allow the subsequent identification of their loved ones.”

Compared to the balance sheet closed 24 hours earlier, that is, this Sunday, November 10, the number of fatalities recorded and autopsies performed has not changed, but there are five new identifications of deceased people and nine fewer active disappearance files.

On the other hand, the morgue set up in Fira Valencia, where all the bodies are taken from the City of Justice once the autopsy has been carried out, has already carried out the effective delivery of 167 of the mortal remains of those until 8 p.m. this Monday. deceased people already identified to their families so that they can carry out the funeral obsequies, 20 more than the total number registered until yesterday.
